About our Partners
The EDC is a public-private partnership between the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce, the City of Santa Maria, and the Santa Maria Public Airport District.
City of Santa Maria – An All-American City
The largest city in the tri-county Central Coast, Santa Maria is a dynamic and prosperous place to work, live and raise a family. Its mild year-round climate and backdrop of coastline, wine country, and abundant agriculture is home to an energetic workforce, commercial and industrial-zoned land, airport and locally-owned railroad.
Blessed with near-perfect climate, Santa Maria is known for its rich agricultural surroundings. Our backdrop of coastline and wine country, world-famous Santa Maria Style BBQ, Elks Rodeo, and the Santa Barbara County Fair, provide unlimited year-round recreation and leisure opportunities. An energetic workforce, excellent schools, low crime, great weather, wonderful air quality and abundant water are just a few of the reasons businesses come to Santa Maria.
Named an All-American City in 1998, Santa Maria is home to industries as diverse as aerospace manufacturing, oil and gas production, biomedical, world-class wineries, tourism, and a wide range of companies supporting the nation’s space defense and research mission housed at Vandenberg Air Force Base. The Santa Maria Municipal Airport boasts an 8,000-plus runway and a new 220+ acre industrial park to accommodate a wide range of business activity. Santa Maria is one of the few communities on the Central Coast that still welcomes and facilitates new residential and commercial development.
Santa Maria Public Airport District
Located in the heart of the California Central Coast, Santa Maria Airport (SMX) serves areas as far north as the wine country of Paso Robles and south to the historic beauty of Santa Barbara. With the longest runway on the Central Coast, and with continued improvements geared toward growth, the Santa Maria Public Airport is a welcome location for future business and expansion.
The Airport District is currently working to launch a Business Park with over 200 acres designated for office and light industrial uses adjacent to the airport.
The airport facilities are spacious, and the airport provides many accommodations including free parking and free wi-fi.
Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce
The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization in northern Santa Barbara County. Its members include small businesses, corporations, associations, and individual professionals. Since its inception in 1902, the Chamber has worked diligently to better the area’s business climate, forge a stronger community, and improve the quality of life. The Chamber works with local government, education, private industry and a host of other partners to improve the business environment and promote Santa Maria as a premier community in which to vacation, live, work, and do business.
The Chamber organizes and directs the efforts of those who share the desire to improve the conditions under which business is conducted. Through participation in the Chamber, members are able to accomplish collectively what they could not do individually.
Through its Visitor & Convention Bureau and Economic Development Commission programs, the Chamber of Commerce plays a leading role in promoting tourism, attracting new businesses, and assisting existing businesses to grow and succeed.
