The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce fully supports energy efficiency. We connect businesses, people, organizations and municipalities to resources and programs that help save energy, conserve water, provide sustainability, and ease your monthly energy bill in the process.
The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce is the implementer for the Santa Barbara County Energy Watch Partnership. The Partnership has assisted hundreds of businesses in northern Santa Barbara County in becoming energy efficient and saving on their monthly energy bill. The Partnership has also assisted local municipalities including Santa Maria, Solvang, Buellton, Guadalupe, and the unincorporated areas of northern Santa Barbara County. The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce is also the Zoning Administrator for the Santa Barbara Regional RMDZ (Recycling Market Development Zone). The RMDZ program provides low interest loans and technical assistance to firms that use recycled materials to make new products or that prevent or reduce waste as part of the manufacturing process. The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce is Green Business Certified. The Chamber successfully completed an extensive certification process. This included upgrading the facility lighting, replacing some electrical and plumbing fixtures, incorporating programs for recycling and sustainability, and refocusing the way the office operates. The Chamber received certification in February of 2014.
